By default, the firewall allows the most widely used programs to connect to the Internet without any problems. However, if the firewall detects that other programs try to connect to the exterior (Internet, another computer in the network, etc), it will ask if you would like to allow or deny the connection by means of a pop-up warning offering you a series of options:
The following situations can arise:
If you completely trust the program, allow it to connect permanently. The warning will not be displayed again and the program can communicate externally whenever it needs to.
If the program is suspicious, do not allow it to connect to the Internet. There are two options. You can deny the connection permanently or prevented it on just one occasion. If you opt for the latter, the next time the program tries to connect to the Internet you'll be asked once again if you want to allow the connection.
If you are not sure, donÆt allow the connection.
You can also enable automatic assignment of permissions. When you do this, the firewall protection wonÆt ask you if you want to allow connections and will assign permissions automatically.
